October 2020 Press Release

MKB Fonds and Uniserver take over Micros Internet services

Unique collaboration between private party and investment fund

Alkmaar / Amstelveen / Schiedam, October 2020 - Togheter with the Dutch cloud distributor Uniserver, MKB Fonds takes over Micros Internet services from Schiedam.

This acquisition is unique for the Netherlands, in which Uniserver took the initiative as a private party and cooperates with MKB Fonds on the process. On the basis of the acquisition agreement, Uniserver will acquire the cloud infrastructure from Micros and MKB Fonds will add the Micros organization to its participation Futureproof Group, a specialist in ICT services, and continue to provide services to the company's customers.

Micros has been a partner in modern ICT issues for almost 40 years. Since its inception in Schiedam in 1981, the company has grown into an important IT service provider. In addition, Micros offers a total solution, including cloud and hosting services, network solutions, workplace management and security. Over time, Micros has built a strong position in training institutions, local governments and trading companies.

“A real win-win situation,” said Ronald Bezuur, founder and managing director of Uniserver, which has been active in the field of Infrastructure as a Service, workspace and multi-cloud services for twenty years. During that period, Uniserver has built up a strong position in providing a wide range of services to system integrators and is the market leader in the managed service provider market. “We notice that many of our existing as well as new partners are looking for the next growth phase or exit. By identifying the infrastructure and placing customers and services with specialized partners, we see the opportunity to accelerate this growth or an exit. We see a lot of potential in this approach, in which we seek collaboration with many different partners. This acquisition is in line with our growth objective and our ambition to create an ecosystem where we can grow together with our partners. We are proud that we have been able to realize this together with MKB Fonds. They are already indirectly a long-term IT partner.”

Emiel Havinga, partner at MKB Fonds is also enthusiastic about the collaboration with Uniserver and Micros: “There is clearly a trend towards further consolidation in the market for ICT service providers. A fragmented market such as this one lends itself well to a growth strategy as we currently use it at Micros. We see that there is a great need for group formation and the collaboration with Uniserver to acquire Micros is a perfect example of this.”

Leo Verhart, founder and owner of Micros, indicates that after almost 40 years it is time for the company to join a larger player. “In this way we can offer customers and employees continuity and quality in a strongly consolidating market. Micros has always stood for high customer satisfaction, personal contact and offering total solutions. By joining Futureproof Group and transferring the platform to Uniserver, our customers and employees will grow along and we can develop further in the cloud market.”
