October 2020 Press Release

MKB Fonds participates in its tenth ICT service provider: IT Worxx from Emmen

Amstelveen, September 2020 - MKB Fonds, the private equity firm that took up residence at the beginning of this year in Buitenplaats "Wester-Amstel" in Amstelveen, is once again expanding in the market for ICT services. Earlier this month, the participation of IT Worxx from Emmen was realized. Marktlink assisted the founders of IT Worxx in this transaction.

About IT Worxx

IT Worxx is a full service supplier of ICT solutions and offers high-quality services in the field of ICT maintenance & management, cloud computing, hosting, telecom & data connections. With a close-knit team of expert and experienced employees, hundreds of customers are served, both in their own region and beyond. The company distinguishes itself through its own data center, which guarantees a high quality of service to customers and which means that there is no uncertainty about the location of customer data and company data. The data center is equipped with the most modern techniques aimed at data continuity and security and is also energy-efficient. At IT Worxx quality stands, (data) integrity, availability and confidentiality central. This is reflected, among other things, in the fact that the organization is ISO 27001, the standard for information security, certified.

The current management, consisting of Alexander Boer, Ronald de Veen and Guus Lubach, will remain unchanged. They will remain important shareholders in IT Worxx even after the participation by MKB Fonds. Sister company Telecom2Business is also part of the transaction.

ICT as a driving force

More than ever, ICT is a crucial part of the business operations of almost all companies in all parts of the economy. The size and complexity of ICT issues are also still increasing. This has led to a continuously growing demand for ICT services, in particular among SMEs and medium-sized organizations, which do not always have the opportunity to provide this independently.

In order to respond to this, MKB Fonds quickly built a cluster under the name Futureproof Group, within which ten comparable ICT companies now work together after joining IT Worxx. All these companies focus their services from their own strength and distinctiveness on the clearly present need in the market. As of today IT Worxx and its customers will benefit from the broad knowledge and experience within the group as well as from the other advantages that the current scale brings with it. IT Worxx is a valuable addition to the group due to its geographic location and distinctive character.

Alexander Boer, director at IT Worxx explains: “The participation by MKB Fonds and the resulting collaboration with the Futureproof Group enable us to continue the growth of the past years in a solid manner. It also offers opportunities to expand our services to customers and thus meet the current demand.”

Brought together by Marktlink Fusies and Overnames

Marktlink Fusies and Overnames, specialist in business takeovers, brought MKB Fonds and IT Worxx together. MKB Fonds was a logical choice as a new investor. With this transaction, IT Worxx retains its autonomy and positioning towards customers and employees, but also makes use of the extensive expertise and economies of scale that the other ICT service providers within the MKB Fonds portfolio offer. This is the perfect next step for IT Worxx.

Although the coronavirus outbreak has had an impact on many merger and acquisition processes, the ICT sector seems to be able to escape it. The good results of IT Worxx also show that the importance of ICT is very great in these times. It was therefore only logical for MKB Fonds and the management of IT Worxx to proceed with the transaction that has now been completed. MKB Fonds expects to be able to make additional transactions in the IT sector in the near future.
